Swami Ishatmananda, a senior monk of the Ramakrishna Order of India, received his Sanyasa (monastic vows) in 1986. Over the years, he has served at the Advaita Ashrama in Kolkata, worked at the educational institution of Ramakrishna Mission in Purulia (West Bengal) and participated in relief work during natural calamities in Assam, West Bengal and Orissa. The Swami was the founding secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission at Port Blair, Andaman Islands. He also served as the Principal-cum-Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission School at Narottam Nagar, situated in the jungle of Tirap district, Arunachal Pradesh. In March 2013, the Swami took over as the Minister of Vivekananda Vedanta Society of Chicago.
